As reports come in all over Europe of flooding sweeping across do we now ask the big question? Is Ireland prepared for climate chaos? It seems every day we are living on the edge of the abyss about climate change disasters no one seems truly prepared for what is happening and yet to happen. The signs are there we are not ready for what may or may not happen in Ireland in the future. We are not similarly equipped to fight battles of climate change on multiple fronts.
Flooding
Floods we can see are a looming threat across the whole Island. In recent years we have experienced some intense storms across Ireland. Some cities can’t handle even basic flood defenses. Does our drainage system handle anything like what is happening in Europe? I am speculating some people are not informed about how to do basic home protecting against flooding or no were to even start to get supplies. It was terrifying to watch some videos of the rampaging floods.
Act of God Insurance
I keep referring back to Europe should it be time to actively have the conversation of having an act of god insurance now??? Climate change isn’t going away. Will it come to a time when we can’t predict the weather because it’s so chaotic? Should lightning strikes, tsunamis, yes you may laugh at that tsunamis oh Ireland would never have one but who knows what the chaotic weather or earthquakes bring, tornados, and devastating floods
A text app for an early warning system.
So we are going to get a 14 billion windfall this should be used as a climate action disaster fund to help develop an early warning system, it is all about a early warning system to give people to get to safety or higher ground whatever the disaster.
My speculative conclusion the money we have now from the apple 14 billion fund should be use to save future lives I speculate the future that this may fall on deaf ears but we could really do with a climate change disaster fund,
